I heard about an execution gone wrong. After two attempts using what was supposed to be fatal injections the condemned prisoner still lives. In fact, she was rushed to the hospital and her life was saved. Seemed a bit counter-intuitive to me but the law is the law. She could only be killed by lethal injection, not by a foul up in administering that fatal injection.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. I question how that happens. I mean, come on, surely the doctor knows how much it takes. Seems like you would just double or triple that amount to be certain. Heck, people accidently overdose themselves every day, it shouldn’t really be that difficult.
I firmly believe in the death sentence. When it has been proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you took another life, you should forfeit your own! I’m not going into a big discussion here about what circumstances warrant that action, I’m just saying there are times when it is appropoiate!
It does seem to me that in our attempt to be “humane” in performing what is obviously not a compassionate or benevolent action, we have created inhumane results. Perhaps we should just use failsafe methods! Methods that guarantee the desired result, like an abortion does. Abortion is fatal every single time!
“The consensus among criminologists and relevant research suggests that the death penalty does not act as a significant deterrent to crime. Existing evidence points towards factors like swift and certain punishment as being more effective in reducing criminal activity.”
That statement from the worldwide web. I guess the death penalty isn’t “swift and certain” as it doesn’t deter criminal activity. In my estimation that is a good part of the problem we are having these days with crime. We have allowed the “due process” to consist mainly of finding excuses, exemptions and reason you shouldn’t be held accountable!
That began when we decided we could reason with children. You know, just talk to them instead of administering swift and certain consequences. Back when we weren’t threatened, we knew it was a promise. Do this and that is what happens! Now!
“Swift and certain punishment” refers to a criminal‑justice strategy in which every violation receives an immediate and predictable consequence, as seen in programs like Hawaii’s HOPE, which showed reduced arrests (55%) and drug use (72%) among probationers.“
That is also from the world wide web. The experts. In other words, spare the rod and spoil the child! Yup, a sound strategy. It won’t prevent every crime, but it will give you pause. There will always be those that just have to find out, learn the hard way.
