We hear a lot about being documented these days. Mostly it is concerned with illegal aliens entering our nation. Being undocumented is supposed to be a kinder, gentler term for criminal. But I’m being corrected, being told you aren’t a criminal until that crime has been documented and adjudicated. It’s just alleged.

For a number of years, I worked on the family tree. It was a passing hobby of sorts; I was seeking answers to questions I hadn’t even asked. I did discover a lot! I did that through documentation. Yes, my ancestors were documented. A few arrived here in America before Ellis Island was a thing. Those documents exist as ships manifests. Passengers were listed by whatever name they provided.

No doubt the past, as documented, contains numerous errors and outright falsehoods. The records are only as accurate are the ones that wrote it down. Misspellings on family names most likely tops the list. Those entering the country not having the ability to speak or write the English language. Translators were not a part of the process!

There is an old saying, no job is done until the paperwork is complete. It has to be documented. Building and maintaining a nation is no exception to that rule. Everything has to be documented; every person has to be documented. It’s just business.

Government exists for the good of the people. That’s what the founding fathers understood and why we fought a revolution to establish. Every person should have an equal say. Well, every person that actively participated that is, you know, actual citizens. No johnny come lately should enjoy any of the benefits! Your contribution has to be documented.

Legality and morality. They really are separate entities. The separation of church and state. The mayor of Baltimore recently said it plainly enough; “if it isn’t illegal, it is acceptable.” That was in response to questioning concerning his hiring practices and distribution of charitable funding. The states IG office is currently suing the city of Baltimore for access to documentation. The mayor insisting financial documents are some sort of City secret.

Your morality does not supersede legality. The most glaring example of that today being all the “protections” the government is implementing for the LGTBQ+ community. If you find that community highly offensive, if it angers you, no matter how strong your personal moral code objects, you can’t act upon any of that. Legality takes precedence, as it should. That’s simply because it’s all about business.

It’s all about documentation. You do not have to prove your innocence; the accuser has to document your guilt. If you lack any documentation to support your position, ie: I’m in this country legally, the accuser has an easy job of proving your guilt. Like showing a driver’s license, don’t have one, you’re guilty. Very straightforward isn’t it.

Illegal aliens, migrants, or criminal trespasser? The name makes little difference. All are undocumented. An immigrant has that documentation. It may be of a temporary nature; it may require further documents to establish permanency. The point is that they are documented. In short, they asked permission. Lacking any of that documentation they are then documented as having committed a civl/criminal offense!
