I have tried to explain what these blogs postings are all about several times. I think maybe I’m trying to explain that more to myself than I am to others. Still, the effort must be made. Shortly after I began, I read somewhere that if you want to know yourself, write. I’ve been doing just that.
My postings, as it turns out, are really just the conversations I have with myself. I’m sharing them with the world on this world wide web, and I still find that an amazing thing. I do not feel any obligation to the world in doing so however, I’m just talking.
That brings me to the point of my posting for today. I really am just talking to myself and allowing everyone to listen. I do question the wisdom of that at times, but, I’m not a politician or a salesman so I’m not concerned if anyone is buying the product. It isn’t that I wouldn’t sell that, it’s just that, that isn’t the point.
I have entertained the idea of writing a book, I still do occasionally. I have started a few times and after reading it back feel it would be of little interest to anyone. I’m just saying the things we all think about, the only thing different is my willingness to say them out loud.
It’s the saying out loud part that sometimes creates misunderstandings. I have been called by quite a variety of names, often to my amusement. I seldom retract anything I say simply because I just say what I believe to be the truth of the matter. I’m not much on placating others feelings.
I do want others to know that I’m just talking. I am not attempting to change your mind, your opinion, or your deeply held beliefs. I don’t think of myself as any mentor, guide or educator. I’m just a regular guy sharing his life experiences and lessons. Take it or leave it.
Yes, it feels good when others agree with me. Yes, I can get defensive when I feel attacked. I don’t say things to hurt others; I just offer another perspective. If you feel like I’m looking down on you, that just means you are looking up to me. Why are you upset?
Personality: “the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character” that according to Google. So, what I am sharing is my character. Character centers on a person’s morality.
When that morality is acceptable to you, you like the person, when it isn’t, you don’t. You don’t have to have the same moral judgement, just not find the other persons’ offensive. That’s what makes you mad. Generally speaking, I’m not mad, I just don’t agree. Hoping that clears things up.
