It’s become a source of annoyance for me, too many choices, too many questions. I really miss the days when you could just say potato chips without having to follow that with an extensive description. Plain, ripple, thick cut, thin cut, real potato, artificial potato, gmo, geometric shape and another paragraph regarding flavorings! I just want a potato chip!

Those of you that are veterans know what I’m talking about. Order anything in the military and you have to provide that description. IE: coat, army, combat uniform, GL/PD 14-04 being the general description then you are required to provide more detail like the specific size.

The military uses NSN’s, national stock numbers, at least they did while I was in, civilians use those bar codes. And that is a source of annoyance for me as well, I’m old, I don’t want to scan a barcode every time I want something! Just put the price on it! I’m not even sure how to do that with my phone.

I understand it is all about choice. That’s the theme of modern society. Individuality, choice, and being validated. I say, screw that, let’s return to uniformity and conformity! In that way everyone knows what to expect.

If I say I want a tuna fish sandwich, I get a tuna fish sandwich! White bread with tuna fish between the slices. That’s it! No questions from the person taking the order. If I want anything different from that, I’ll tell you. It’s called a special order! I still remember when special orders cost extra and annoyed the clerks. That’s fine, they are getting paid to be annoyed, I’m not.

You see that’s the problem today, too many choices. Just like too many chefs spoil the broth, too many choices spoil the people. We are the United States because we had a common goal, we united to accomplish that goal. We have the uniform services to protect that.

Diversity does not promote harmony! No, it just doesn’t work that way at all. Uniformity, conformity and meeting expectations are what creates a harmonious society. Yes, those societies in history that we admire today were all that that. That’s true even of the ones we revile!

All I’m saying is, I’m tired of the questions. I want a soda; I don’t want to spend the next ten minutes defining exactly what I expect that to be. Just give me a cola, that’s a soda. If I want a different flavor, I will ask for that, an orange soda for instance.

A hamburger is just a hamburger, and I don’t want to discuss the breed of cattle or if it was made with plants! Bun, hamburger patty, lettuce, tomato and ketchup! That’s it unless I say otherwise. If I say cheeseburger, well you put cheese on it too. Simple enough right?

Seriously, I am getting awful tired of all the questions. I just want to be able to order whatever it is I want quick and easy. I don’t want to be asked if I’m using a mobile app! I’m in my car at the drive-up window, I’m already mobile! I want a hamburger, coke and fries. No questions, just the items I ordered.

Thank you and no, I’m not rounding up to support whatever cause you are hawking this week. I won’t be guilt tripped into that situation. I’m not falling for your virtue signaling! I won’t be bullied. Uniform expectations create harmony and bring peace to the world. It’s how you raise children and how you create great societies.
