Was reading an article about the Bison in Yellowstone. The scientists and researchers have been studying them. After years of study, millions spent on research, they have determined that the bison migrate. Yes, the herds migrate from one area to another.
Well, that was quite a revelation I suppose. What was even more surprising to these researchers and scientists was that it actually helped the land. The bison, despite eating all the grass were actually stimulating new growth of that grass. In an amazing development the bison didn’t ruin the land!
As I read about that I couldn’t help but laugh a bit thinking how we have reached a point where we rely on scientists and researchers to “prove” common sense and reason. I’m quite certain the native peoples and the pioneers were very much aware of all that. And not one of them had advanced degrees! Amazing, isn’t it?
Today we have to provide citations to prove our observations. Your statement must be backed up with documentation and endorsed by those with a degree. The really strange thing about that is this; if you get enough people with degrees to agree, even fantasy becomes reality. Consider the whole gender identity thing as proof of that.
We are talking about and debating the whole gain of function thing at the moment. Is that what created covid? SARS, severe acute respiratory syndrome isn’t covid, just a very close relative. It’s the scientific way of saying we didn’t create covid it’s related to SARS.
Did that gain of function research create covid? Yes, I believe that is the case. It is to be expected when man attempts to manipulate nature. Mankind doesn’t have a very good track record at creation. We do tend to cause more harm than good. We also tend to hide the truth about that as much as possible.
Ever read about all the possible side effects of every medication we have ever formulated? That should give you pause, if nothing else does. It’s my feeling we created covid, and it got away from us! Just another one of those “whoopsie doodles” the scientists shrug off. It’s the price of progress.
I’m not saying we haven’t created wonderful medications, treatments, and cures for terrible diseases. We have certainly done that. I am saying that the cost has been high as well. Lots of missteps and mistakes along the way. Should we just dismiss all that?
I am concerned when we dismiss common sense and logic as “unproven.” Many things in life are unproven except by personal experience. Feelings are what we usually call that. I can’t prove it but I have a feeling. Thing is, those feelings don’t always mean it is a good thing or a bad thing. In fact, feeling pain is a good thing. If you didn’t, you would continue to hurt yourself!
Trust the science! That was the mantra during the big Pandemic! The term pandemic has been used since the 1600’s. It’s derived from the Greek, as are so many words we use today. It just means it applies to everyone. We have retroactively applied the word to every major spread of a disease, like the black death or the Spanish flu, both were pandemics.
And right now, before a senate committee, the scientist that was “in charge” of controlling, rectifying the error and explaining how that all happened is refusing to testify. Pleading the fifth amendment 111 times in a row!
I get the feeling I shouldn’t “trust the science” although I have no research, no citations or degree to offer as proof. What I do have is empirical evidence! The only issue there being allowing that evidence to be distributed, much is being suppressed, that’s the reason for pleading the fifth.
All I have to base this on is what they call “priori” knowledge. That’s what scholars say. It means knowledge based on reasoning and innate ideas. My reasoning being, if you don’t have anything to hide you don’t need to plead the fifth. Or is Fauci using his “priori” knowledge? He knows pleading the fifth will be viewed as an admission of guilt, but he can’t be prosecuted because, well, he pled the fifth.
