Is Ukraine still fighting the Russians? Yes, that war continues. You wouldn’t know it by listening to the news these days, amazing how that is, isn’t it? After four years that news is just ho-hum.

There are still people fighting and dying. The country is in turmoil, families shattered. Zelinski has stopped coming to the white house asking for money and material. We are still supplying both by the way, just another item in the ledger. It’s only 195 billion dollars, nothing worth noting.

Meanwhile we are engaged in a “war” with Iran. The reasons we are involved are convoluted to say the least. All the news outlets call it a war, but no declaration of war has been made, at least not by congress. The pentagon says it has cost 29 billion so far, but others claim it is closer to a trillion.

We are supporting Isreal, the Jews, fighting Muslims, “just the bad ones” and debating whether we are a Christian nation. Here at home the biggest issues are the price of gas, trans rights and the climate is changing.

Civil unrest is growing daily. I see that on the news because it is sensational. Lots of emotional stories to be told. The right to peaceful assembly is being extended to include blasting megaphones, blocking traffic, and resisting the efforts of law enforcement to keep things peaceful. Are we headed for a civil war?

The republic is in jeopardy, no denying or ignoring that. There are many factors involved with that. You hear a great deal about income inequity. The poor people want the rich people to give them more because, well, they can afford it. What they really want is to be entertained and free from responsibility.

The basic necessities in life are being labeled as rights. You have a right to free healthcare; you have a right to housing; you have a right to food. You shouldn’t have to earn any of those things, they are a right! The only issue being who is responsible to provide all that.

The founding fathers said it plainly enough, you have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Government is a necessity to preserve those rights. Limited government. We the people are responsible for our welfare; the government moderates that to prevent abuses.
