When I speak about social media I mean Facebook. I don’t do any of the others. I can’t help but notice how Facebook has transformed into a digital version of the National Enquirer. Really a return to its’ roots. The original intent of “Thefacebook” as it was called then, was to get students to rate each other’s pictures.
It was just twenty years ago that Facebook became available to anyone. Well, you are supposed to be at least thirteen years old, but we all know how that went. That’s when Facebook entered the farming mode. All that has long since been replaced with gossip and tales of victimization! A social platform for the left.
I haven’t conducted any research, any investigation, but I’m betting that advertising monies is the cause of all that. It’s about making a buck after all. I’m amused by that because Facebook is known as the old folk’s social media. Amused because the old folks are now those twenty something kids that started the whole thing. The kids are still on the farm.
Now Facebook sounds like old people sitting on the porch. The main topic of conversation is about social injustice. Really, it is just about complaining about everything. That’s what old people do you know? Using our years of life experience we pontificate on the evils of the world. It’s all just as shocking as the gossip over the neighbor’s fence!
I stay on Facebook because it is comfortable, familiar and I do have many friends on there. I also have a guilty pleasure, stirring up those justice warriors by telling the truth. Wasn’t long ago I was constantly being called a troll. Haven’t heard that in a while but those are the left are creative enough, they use other terms.
Twenty years of Facebook. I have seen the changes, and I don’t see it coming to an end anytime soon. It does appeal to that gossip in all of us. That is what started it and what will sustain it. Its’ popularity will rise and fall, no doubt about that, but it will remain.
