I hear all the talk about privacy concerns these days. We have to secure our computers, phones and every other device that can connect to the internet. We are warned about using our atm cards, hiding that pin number and being alert for scam readers. Social media sites are especially treacherous, full of those that would steal your information and rob you blind! It’s enough to make a person paranoid. And this morning I saw further evidence of this spying. I’m thinking that AI is watching.

I was scrolling down my Facebook page when I saw this article about repeating the same sin and whether you will be forgiven for that. What struck me about that was that I had written and poised the same question not too long ago. Was that just a coincidence? It certainly could be, but I’m skeptical. It isn’t the first time that has happened to me. I’m beginning to think that AI is picking up on things I post in my blog and Facebook page and spewing them back at me. I do wonder what the purpose of that would be though? I can’t imagine why.

Beyond any ulterior motive any of that may harbor I’m thinking that I am being monitored. I also think everyone else on Facebook and all the other social media sites are being monitored. Is it some gigantic conspiracy? No, I don’t think it is, but is a method to increase profits. I’m 100% certain money is the motive for any of that activity. We all know if you click on one ad for a product many more will follow, for weeks to come.

The collection of information is a billion dollar industry. All this “gerrymandering” in the news these days is a part of that, well, the result of that anyway. It pays to know all about your potential voters! That way you know what to promise. You don’t have to keep those promises, just know what ones to make. Once you are in there, the odds are greatly in your favor to remain there, regardless of your actual performance. Nationally, you have a 95% chance of being reelected! 95%. Great odds wouldn’t you say?

I have said it many times, there is little you can say that hasn’t been said before. The adage, “there is nothing new under the sun” is attributed to King Solomon.” So there you have it, Solomon said it before I did! The control of information is what has enabled empires and dynasties to form. Today we live in the information age, everything is available to anyone that cares to pursue it. It is all available, sometimes for a price.

Today gaining attention may be more valuable than the information itself! We are being conditioned to believe just about anything, alternative facts they are called. Getting attention for your cause, your thoughts, and beliefs holds the greater value than any information you may have to share. Influencers are very well paid to sell a product. I certainly don’t think of myself as an influencer, I don’t think anyone is paying attention to me. Still, that AI may be collecting data from my social presence, along with everyone else’s and creating articles. I still have no idea why that would be, but I suspect it is the case. Someone, somewhere is making money, of that I have no doubt.
