A madman attempted to shoot up the white house correspondents dinner. The media outlets all talking about how he left a manifesto. Well because every mad shooter leaves a manifesto these days it’s sort of required. Comedians are making distasteful jokes about that and many are claiming the whole thing was just a staged event. No AR-15’s involved so I’m not hearing about assault weapons this time. All of this will soon be forgotten about, just another shooting incident, no big deal. I expect the manifesto will be available on Amazon soon, as a downloadable PDF.

As many of you readers know I try to post something everyday. A great deal of what I post are my opinions, my thoughts on things and what I think should be done about them. I googled the definition of a manifesto and this is what I got; “a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer. ” Oh no, that sounds like what I’m doing. Manifestos are always a bad thing aren’t they? Not according to the internet. They sure sound like bad things though, like the communist manifesto. I can’t name a good one right off the bat.

I do find it amusing in a way. These blogs of mine, that aren’t really blogs according to the criteria defining what a blog is supposed to be, are just my opinion of things, my view, my thoughts, and yes sometimes suggested actions to be taken would be called a manifesto, should I commit some heinous act! Well, at least that is what the news would be reporting. According to the official definition I am writing a manifesto, yet no mention of that on the news outlets so far.

But reviewing what the criteria for a manifesto is, I haven’t fulfilled them. I haven’t mentioned my intentions. I have expressed my views, quite plainly and even repeated some of them several times. I have explained my motive for writing these postings, a purely selfish motive truth be told. As to intentions? I haven’t really given that much thought. I guess the intention is just to tell others what I think. I certainly don’t have any other plans, any other course of action I plan to take to make that happen.

I’m just wondering why the news people like to use terms like manifesto to give credence to whatever a madman writes down. I think it is simply because manifesto sounds so ominous, like some evil genius writing a master plan, when in fact, it is just the ramblings of a nut job! My thinking is we would all be better served to just tell the truth about things, the guys a nut. The same media coined the term, assault rifle! Why? Because it sounds bad, that’s why. And today we all hear about mental health, how we should be guarding our mental health, seeking professional help, seeking out medications to deal with life. It’s a crisis. Yeah, well life is like that, get used to it.

Was that madman really writing a manifesto? Was that the intent of any online postings he may or may not have made? He sent a note to his parents beforehand according to the news. Is that a manifesto? Why don’t we just say what all that is, the ramblings of a madman. Yes, some people are just nuts, it is as simple as that. He wasn’t writing a manifesto. He’s a nut job! Quit validating him by crediting him with a manifesto. He’s certified.

Just another nut!
