I’ve decided that most people just don’t want to hear what they are really thinking. That’s the reason I get so many negative comments on my social media postings, always from complete strangers. They are in denial! That’s a phycological thing I’ve heard about. It can make you unhappy as well, but there are pills you take take for that. They are so heavily advertised that I can name three right off the bat; Caplyta, it has a catchy jungle, Vralar and Rexulti. You can’t change the truth, but you can medicate it.
I get it, it is easier to just go along with the crowd, agree with whatever as long as it doesn’t do you any harm personally. That’s how history is made you know, when the majority agree on a course of action, whether for the good, or the bad. Things like slavery existed for hundreds of years because a majority of the people agreed, it’s just fine to enslave your enemies. Wars are fought for the same reason, the majority agree to fight. If everyone agreed not to fight, there wouldn’t be a war. Governments are overthrown and created by the majority.
What do the majority of the people want? My thought is, just to be left alone. We humans don’t like being told what to do, or how to do it. It’s something we do far beyond instinct. We think about stuff! With that comes this idea that we are somehow entitled to certain things because of that ability. That was plainly stated by this phrase, “all men are created equal, endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights” we are entitled to those rights. Then we thought but I’m entitled to bit more than you are and the reasoning began.
All that works well until you start to feel denied or refused your entitlement in some fashion. Whether by the government or those around you, you feel like you deserve more. You start to deny the reality of life. Yes, we are all created equally but not all of us are equally entitled. Man, I hate that. I really hate it when you keep telling me that as well. You can’t tell me right from wrong! I have a right to feel anyway I want and you have an obligation to acknowledge and support that. I’m entitled to that. Uh, no you are not. Man, that stinks.
I’m thinking all those folks out there so angry, so upset, and so depressed are that why because of their own refusal to accept reality. You can pretend, you can deceive yourself for just so long. Eventually all that will catch up to you and create mental issues. Medicating those issues isn’t really going to help in the long run. What you really need to do is accept the truth even when you don’t like the truth. It is what is. History is always made by changing the response to reality.
Sometimes it is a good response, sometimes it is not.
An aging man living in a confusing world. I was born and raised in East Hampton, yes “the Hamptons” but not rich, not famous and definitely not woke. These are my thoughts, my memories and my opinions. Just the stuff of the regular Joe.
