Gender identity. It’s a huge topic of discussion these days. Our lawmakers are concerned with that, policy developed, and laws written. It’s involved with religious beliefs and practices. But just what are we really talking about? We are discussing those people that feel like they were “assigned” the wrong gender at birth, or sometime after birth discovered their gender just doesn’t match their feelings. For one of those reasons they adopt a different identity and everyone else in the world should simply accept and embrace that identity. That’s what the laws are all about, not allowing any dissent.
In my way of thinking gender identity is actually just an expression of their sexual desires. Whatever turns them on, to put it plainly. There was a time when that was labeled as gender identity disorder, a mental condition. Then in 2013 it was changed to gender dysphoria, still a mental condition but the treatment is for anxiety rather than delusional thinking. In my opinion just another concession made for political correctness. Changing the name, does not change the condition however!
Consenting adults are certainly free to engage in whatever sexual activity pleases them, within the constraints of not harming others. What you do in your bedroom is not my concern, that is on a need to know basis. I don’t want to know, don’t need to know, and you shouldn’t be holding parades, waving banners and demanding laws be written to validate any of that. None of that should be in the public domain. Not my business, and you shouldn’t be making it my business either!
My concern with this identity issue stuff is where is it taking us? I mean today you can just say I’m identifying as a woman or man and I am expected to accept that as a fact. I’m supposed to use the corresponding pronouns and support you in that delusion. I’m told that it is empathy. Yes, empathy is the ability to feel what others feel. Empathy doesn’t mean you have to agree with those feelings. No, that is another mental capability called discernment. Recognizing fact from fiction.
Are we going to say that whatever you feel is reality? Whatever and however you feel is the truth? Yes, it may feel like the truth to you, I get that, but that doesn’t make it the truth. What is truth? Universal agreement is truth. Conformity to the majority. That’s the truth. Everyone agrees that fire will burn you, even if you called that fire water, it would still burn you. You may believe otherwise, feel otherwise, but the result will be the same, you get burned.
In 2012 about 3.5% of the population identified as LGBTQ+. Far from any majority. Since then, after 2013 when the diagnosis was changed, that number has grown to 9.3%. It is reported that Gen Z, those born between 1997 and 2012, that number grows to 20%. Why would that be? It’s simply because they are being told that it is a normal thing to feel that way, in fact, it is empowering and somehow makes you special. So special we have to write legislation to protect your feelings! The majority isn’t right, only your reality is the truth.
Gender identity. We all know that there are two genders. Male and Female. We all understand that there are a myriad of aberrations, deformations, mutations, and abnormalities within each gender. Medical and mental conditions. None of those conditions change reality. Either a male or a female has those conditions. There is no such thing as non-binary. In the end, there are always just two. It’s always one or the other. Either a male has gender identity disorder or a female has gender identity disorder. That’s how that works. Putting on a dress or a pair of pants doesn’t change a thing.
