I’ve been around a while. Born in 1953 I have seen the United States involved in so many conflicts. When I was young it was stilled called the Korean conflict, later it was called a war. Vietnam wasn’t a war either, not for a long time. Of course to those that served and those that lost loved ones in all of those conflicts it always felt like it was a war. No matter what it was called all those that returned home never got the celebration, the parades and the accolades that they deserved. The reason is a simple one, they were never viewed as having won. Unlike WWII the enemy hadn’t been defeated.

That’s what I’m thinking about when I see and hear about those protesting in the streets of NYC and other paces. They have already begun calling this a war. No war has been declared, just like Korea, Vietnam, and all the other conflicts. The United States last officially declared war in June of 1942. Some time back the United States declared an end to the “cold war.” It was in December of 1991. No parades, no nothing. It is still being debated who won that war. In my humble opinion it was the Soviet bloc and those people demanding an end to socialism. But, I’m no geo-political scholar. I just fought in those conflicts.

It’s time. It’s time for America to exert that power and crush the enemy! We need a decisive win, one without any conditions or concessions attached to that. Unconditional surrender! It is way past due. Imperialistic? No, realistic. We can not allow Iran or any other nations professing death to America and sponsors of terrorism to obtain nuclear capabilities. What was the cold war all about? Same thing, only the Soviets did have that technology, given to them by the traitors Julius and Ethel Rosenberg! They were executed in June of 1953, I was born in July. The cold war was about that threat. A lot of saber rattling involved and a few minor dust ups, most notably the Cuban missile crisis. In 1962 the United States had deployed some missiles in Europe and in response the Soviets deployed missiles to Cuba. That lasted thirteen days, a “mexican” standoff. Don’t want that happening again.

I realize you can’t really defeat an ideology. It is that ideology that is at the heart of all this. When religion controls the population, abuses will ultimately result. The very reason we have that separation of church and state. Remember your history? Who sent the troops into battle during the crusades? It wasn’t a president, a dictator, or a king, it was the Pope. About 1400 years ago a man named Mohamed created what we now call Islam. It’s an ideology, not a religion. The religious part is just a smoke screen.

One could say the Jewish folks have an ideology as well, the big difference being the Jews don’t have a mandate to kill the infidels as a means of obtaining salvation. In fact, their ideology says, thou shalt not kill. And Christians, well we Christians made a new covenant with God, a kind of new deal. None of those “ideologies” will ever be defeated. As long as they are considered a religion, people will believe. We still have druids and wiccans.

All that being said my thought is we should just end this quickly and with absolute overwhelming force. America needs a victory! I realize there will be many that will protest, but I’m thinking that would end rather quickly. When it becomes the popular thing to wave that virtue flag for America, those people will fall into line. Those protesting aren’t activists, they are hiding behind the crowd, cowering in the corners, afraid to ruffle feathers. Remember 9/11? Yeah, I remember that and we came together. It was an ugly time, no denying that, but a necessary time. We promised to “never forget” and it is time to remember! I say go ahead, declare war on Iran and finish it! Just like that.
