The current emotional trauma I am being urged to experience is the requirement to have identification to vote. I’m being told this requirement is racist! I’m struggling to understand that accusation. The proposed legislation that would require that identification would apply to everyone. It in no way discriminates in that regard. There are no exceptions or exemptions contained in the bill that would favor any one race over another.

Now, I’m told that this requirement for valid identification is almost impossible for women and black people to obtain. The black folks can’t afford it and the women have had their name changed when they got married, it doesn’t match their birth certificates. I’ve also heard it is far more difficult for those “migrants” to cast a ballot when proof of citizenship is required. That seems to be a surprise to some, but I’ve always known that was the case. Yes, a few additional documents are required in addition to that birth certificate or marriage license.

I’m just having a real hard time understanding what the big problem is. No one seems to have any issues providing identification and documents when applying for SNAP, Medicaid, and a hundred other government programs. I have never heard anyone saying any of those programs are racist. About 35% of all snap recipients are white, followed by about 26% being black. If more black people had Id’s would the number increase? What about all the others, are they just lacking id’s? Given about 63% of the total population are white and 12.3% black it would appear statistically speaking that far more blacks have id’s than the white folks do. Stats can be fun to manipulate can’t they?

Why would anyone object to making the vote more secure? What could be the possible reason for that? The last six years we have been conducting investigation after investigation into voter fraud. We are even investigating the investigation! The requirement for a valid voter ID seems more than reasonable. Proof of citizenship and Photo ID are the main requirements of the SAVE act. Safeguard American Voter Eligibility is the title of that legislation. One claim states it could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters! Millions?

I rather doubt that number. Total population for the United States is currently 338 million. That includes all those under the age of 18, all those otherwise ineligible to vote for a myriad of reasons. The claim being made that they cannot procure the necessary documents. Yeah well, when you don’t have the required documents that is the result, a denial of whatever privilege is being extended. Yes, voting is a privilege in America and one that can be revoked by due process of law. It can also be withheld when you can not provide the proper documentation that entitles you to that privilege. The question for me is, why would making it easier to commit fraud be a better choice? Instead the concern should be making the vote more secure!

How is any of that racist? I just can’t see it unless you going to say, only white people can get an Id. Are you going to say blacks, Latinos, Asians and native Americans are just too poor and too stupid to get those documents? Birth certificates have been a mandatory requirement in the United States since 1902. Yes, some documents have been lost due to fires, natural disasters and other means. That number is very low, less than 1%, although the exact number isn’t known. Still, there are documents you can get that state just that. Does that only apply to every other race, they are the only ones that can’t get those documents?

You know there was a time in America when business was done on a handshake. There was a time when just your signature alone was enough. But eventually we had to admit it, people weren’t always honest, some didn’t keep their promises. We began requiring a bit more. Collateral was required to secure a loan, as an insurance policy. It is “assurance” really, that you won’t get cheated. It has become quite the business all in of itself, this insurance business. Billions of dollars paid for “assurance” The time has come when we have to admit to it, voter fraud is a real thing and it really happens. It isn’t a racial thing, it isn’t a political party thing, it is a human nature thing. There are those that have no problem cheating, lying, or selling their integrity for a price. There are also those willing to pay, either in promises, entitlements or cash. Taking your word for it just isn’t good enough! That train left the station a long time ago.
