The original crusaders were paid mercenaries. Campaigners, at least a portion of them, are paid. And then you just have those that like to jump on the bandwagon. What their motivations may be is open to interpretation. They are the only ones that know. I’m sure some are genuine. Some acting out of a sense of justice. We need those that will stand and fight for what is right. It is just these hot button topics that I begin to question. Yes, we need something to spur us to action. I understand that. It is just when those acting are not fully informed and are reacting, that things can become fouled.
If and when the issue comes to a vote I will make my choice known. That is how it is supposed to work. It is my feeling that if laws were enforced,as written, we wouldn’t have near the problems we do. There are far too many instances of the laws being circumvented or ignored altogether. Laws can not prevent the lawless from doing bad things. We may change the method they use to do harm, but we can not stop it from happening. It seems an awful lot of people have forgotten a basic lesson, life isn’t always fair. You cannot control the actions of others.
In my experience, those that are sincere about a topic usually speak softly and intelligently. They state their opinions and offer suggestions. These are the activists that cause positive changes. Those that bluster, cajole or impose their will on others are doomed to repeat that process. A review of history will bear this out.
